I have worked professionally in digital animation, graphic design, sports licensing, publishing, and web design. As the web design face of Jeff Szuc illustration, Ithaca Design Company brings the same dedication and attention to detail with which I approach all design projects. Big or small, every website should look it’s absolute best.

Before we start, we need to know what kind of website best serves your business. Websites basically fall into four categories:
Business card websites: A place where your clients/customers can get your location, hours, telephone-number, etc.
Branding websites: Primarily about bonding lifestyle advertising to your company/product’s image.
Information libraries: Think of government websites, these sites are designed to be easiest and most user-friendly (okay, maybe don’t think government) ways of finding the data you need from the vast amounts of information stored on the site.
Shopping cart sites: Think of any major online store for this, we’re all familiar with them by now.
Of course nothing is ever that black and white. Sites usually function as a hybrid of two or more purposes. An example of this would be a Business Card Site for a store, or a restaurant, which would also be heavily lifestyle branded. Another example of this would be a site such as Amazon, which is primarily a Shopping Cart Site, but is also a very efficient information retrieval site.
Before We begin building your site, we need to establish what functions your site will be serving. Once that is clear, it’s on to step two.
As much as I love design, it is just window dressing if there is no content. This is where pre-planing can save you a lot of time (and money) down the road. For any style of website, ease of user navigation is of primary importance. Before we build, we need to establish your complete content outline so that we can build the most efficient content navigation architecture possible — catered specifically for your site’s needs. It is only once we’ve written all the blurbs and bios, and amassed all the photos into galleries, that we can finally start designing.
Let’s design this site so that it instantly visually tells its viewer everything about you. Is it soft? is it bold? is it green? is it blue? It’s not about what I like, it’s not about personal preferences, it’s about what will sell you best. It’s about making you look professional, reputable, and dependable. What I do best is make your site, and thereby your business, look it’s best. We’ll work together through a couple of drafts and brainstorming sessions and then I’ll come back to you with a final layout before building the site.
Don’t worry, your work is done. From here, I’ll take the design we’ve come up with together and turn it into a full functioning website with all the bells and whistles, all the user integration, and any back-end cms access and functionality you need (again, if I’ve lost you that’s okay, the bottom-line is that I’ll get this website working as is best for you).
And that’s it. Thank you, it’s been a pleasure working with you.
